The USDA Forest Service will host a public field tour of the proposed 100,000 acre Lower Cowpasture Restoration Project on Thursday, August 8, from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Participants will meet at the intersection of State Route 39 (Maury River Road) and State Route 42 (Virginia Avenue) in Goshen (Rockbridge County), Virginia. The group will tour some existing and potential projects in the Lower Cowpasture Project area including watershed improvements along Simpson Creek and recreation, wilderness, wildfire, and prescribed burns. Access to some areas requires hiking on steep terrain so plan accordingly. This is the second in a series of field tours scheduled for 2013 to discuss the Lower Cowpasture Restoration Project.
To register for the field tour, please contact Michael Williams at (540) 265-5173 or [email protected].
