Three High Heads Proposed Wilderness

Approximate Size: 5224 acres

Location: Shenandoah County and Frederick County, Virginia in the Lee District

Three High Heads is a proposed Wilderness area.  This proposal contains 5224 acres lying on the northeastern end of the Big Schloss roadless area.  The only trail within the boundaries is the short Sulphur Gap Trail.  The area is rugged and wild, and includes the rocky peaks of Paddy Mountain, which reaches an elevation of 2750 feet.  Given the heavy interest in the Big Schloss area from Northern Virginia residents and others, this proposal offers a much-needed wilderness experience.
